The Rev. Howard A. Kerstetter, of Carlisle, died on December 4, 2023 at UPMC Carlisle at the age of 92. He was born in State College, PA on August 6, 1931, and was the son of the late Guy T. and D. Marie Kerstetter. A brief Memorial Service will be held at The Carlisle United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Mira Hewlett officiating. Joseph Marlin Hosler, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia Zinn Hosler. Joseph was born on June 14th, 1935, in Newville, PA. He was the son of the late George W. and Martha (Brandt) Hosler. Betty Jean Shatto, age 89, of Carlisle, PA, wife of the late Richard P. Shatto, passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 16, 2023. She was born in Carlisle, PA on January 31, 1934, to the late Norman L. Neff, Sr., and the late Miriam (Strause) Shatto. Betty was a 1951 graduate of Carlisle High School. Colonel Donald Esper passed away peacefully at the Thornwald Home in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, on 23 October 2023, at the age of 96. Elmer J. "Smitty" Smith, 92, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Country Meadows of West Shore. He was born October 15, 1930, in Gainesville, NY to the late Floyd and Clella (Mix) Smith. Elmer was the widower of Margaret (Zuckschwerdt) Smith who passed in November of 2009 after they enjoyed more than 50 years of marriage. Smitty worked at a farm when he was young.
