Juanita B. Kahla was born in Smith County, Texas on November 10, 1934, to Louis and Gertrude Bruce. She died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends, and entered eternal rest on October 17, 2023. She attended Anahuac High School and graduated in 1952. She retired from the Chambers County Extension Office where she was employed for twenty-five years. She loved working in the yard, especially mowing her grass, and enjoyed the occasional cruise and many trips to the casinos in Louisiana. Pamela Michelle Mennie, 54, of Fannett, died Friday, September 8, 2023. She was born on November 4, 1968, in Sulphur, Louisiana, to Charlene Benoit. Pam's unwavering faith in Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her existence. Pam was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, sister, friend and so much more to all those whose lives she touched. Pam grew up in a large family in which she developed her strong sense of compassion and empathy. Her selflessness and dedication were evident in her role as a mother, raising two beautiful boys, Dominic and Donovan, who meant the world to her. Marlene Teresa Butaud Bordages, 88, died, Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Hamshire. She was born on September 6,1934, to Richard Frank Butaud and Mamie Mary Moss, in Henry, Louisiana. Marlene enjoyed gardening, going antiquing, cooking, and baking for family and friends. After long days of working cattle, her husband, and the other cowboys, would always look forward to her cooking dinner for them. Decorating for all the holidays was one of her favorite things to do. Glen Martin Koelemay, 88, of Winnie, died Saturday, June 24, 2023. He was born January 18, 1935, in Nederland, to Edna Belle Lester and Martin Koelemay, Jr. Mr. Koelemay owned and operated Koelemay Ranch in Winnie for over sixty-five years. He enjoyed spending time with his cattle, dogs, and cats. He was also a deacon at First Baptist Church of Winnie for over fifty years, as well as teaching Sunday school. Born on Christmas Day, December 25, 1935, Ginger Faye was quickly renamed by her big brother, Sonny, as B.B., because he couldn't pronounce Ginger. B.B. graduated from Anahuac High School, where she was captain of the girls' basketball team playing point guard on the varsity team for four years.
