Amherst: Donald Mellott, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on August 31, 2023. He was born December 11, 1944 to the late Eugene and Marie (Herbert) Mellott. Donald was a U.S. Army veteran who served his country during the Vietnam Conflict, receiving an honorable discharge. He worked for many years for the railroad before he retired. He is survived by many cousins and friends. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955 and was stationed in Austria, Germany, California, Georgia and Texas. John worked and retired from FMC in Middleport from 1952-1995. He was a longtime farmer and avid outdoorsman and loved golfing, playing horseshoes, camping, hunting and fishing. John enjoyed bowling, playing pool and cards, especially Bridge and Euchre. Besides being an excellent student and basketball player on her high school team, she helped harvest fruits and vegetables on the family farm and was known as a champion cherry picker. John Donovan McKenna (Jack), 86, of Albion, NY passed away peacefully on July 27, 2020 after a long illness. Jack was born February 5, 1934 in Albion to the late Mary and Joseph McKenna. Jack, aka "Jake the Snake" in his skinny college days, was a proud 1955 graduate and later recruiter for the State University of New York Maritime College. At school, he specialized as a Navigator and subsequently served as an Officer in the Navy on board the USS Antares and a Ship's Officer for the Moore-McCormack Line in the Merchant Marine.
