Richard Cooper Thomas passed away on September 30, 2023, surrounded by his family. Born in Wenona, Maryland on October 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Cooper Henry and Leila Webster Thomas. Richard began working the day after he graduated from high school and worked full time until he was 80 years old. He was an honorable and valued employee wherever he worked. He began at Chris-Craft Boats and retired from Lowe's, but his favorite job was with Safeway where he served as store manager. He was born near Sudlersville, Maryland on October 6, 1930, a son of the late Jessie Rodney Dixon and Myrtle Jackson Dixon and stepson of Margaret Burris Dixon. He graduated from Millington High School in Millington, Maryland in 1947. He completed a college ministerial program through the Holiness Christian Church of the USA (1950-1955) and was ordained in June 1955. Lorena Grey Pasternak, 93, of Mardela Springs, and formerly of Waldorf, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 26, 2021. She was born August 27, 1928, in Roanoke, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Frank William Finster and Nellie Jeanette (Burkhammer) Finster. In her earlier years, Lorena stayed home to raise her family and was the consummate homemaker. While her children were in school, she began to volunteer at various school functions. This ultimately led to her working as a cafeteria worker for the Prince George's County School system, from where she retired as the cafeteria manager, after 37 years of service. Donald "Don" Lee Engle, 90, of Salisbury passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury. He was born on August 10, 1930, in Federalsburg, Maryland, a son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Jester) Engle. Don proudly served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He developed a strong work ethic in his early years which followed him through a career as a correctional officer.
