Janet "Jan" Lee Argyle (James) passed away on December 19, 2025 in Salmon, Idaho. Jan was born on August 3, 1940 in Challis, Idaho to Gurney and Kate James. She became part of the sizable, close-knit and rambunctious James clan. She sang in the chorus and played volleyball, often caring for her siblings. She had a mischievous personality and loved pranks, which carried on to adulthood. She often slipped the kids treats with a wink and egged on others with that impish grin. Jim spent his youth roaming the mountains of the area, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. While in high school he enlisted in the Air Force Reserve. He was one of five children born to Lauvell and Bessie Callahan in 1951, living a difficult youth in Oregon and California. In 1968 he joined the U.S. Marine Corps, turning 17 in boot camp. He served two tours in Vietnam and at 19, the youngest Sergeant in the Corps at the time, was an Amtrac platoon leader. He earned medals, but also came home to an ungrateful and angry nation.
