He passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at his home in Brigham City, Utah at the age of 94. Boyd was very proud to have served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. While being stationed in Germany he had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. He married Beverly Garner in 1954 and had two wonderful kids, Terry Lynn and Steven K. He was born on June 28, 1936, in Hyrum, to Eilert Kenneth and Viola Mae, where he would go on to leave a profound legacy grounded in love, laughter, and commitment to his community and family. Gene dedicated 22 years of his career to the Water Research Laboratory at Utah State University, where his contributions were invaluable.
