Chester Doane Martin was born in Kerrville, Texas, on December 27, 1943, to Chester Martin and Wilma Leona Doane Martin. He died on September 2, 2023 in Olney after a long illness. He was 79 yrs old. His early years were spent on the Martin family ranch in Kerrville until the drought of the 1950s forced a move to Plainview, TX when he was ten years old. He lived there through middle school where he learned to play the trombone in the school band. At fifteen the family, which included his three younger sisters, moved to Clairette, Texas.
