Urban Joseph ("U. J.") Bellinghausen, 97, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023. In recent years he was a resident of Munday Nursing Center. U. J. was born January 3, 1926, in Rhineland, Texas to Hubert Bellinghausen and Rosina Duesterhaus. He graduated from Rhineland High School in 1943. During WWII he served in the United States Marine Corps 3rd Battalion, Tenth Marines 2nd Marine Division. While serving in the Pacific Theater, he was aboard the USS Krenshaw which provided floating reserve for the battle of Okinawa. After the fall of Japan, U. J. was part of the occupation forces.
