Betty Manley, 93, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Graveside services will be 3:00 PM, Friday, April 12th at Laurel Hill Cemetery (3601 E. Court Ave Des Moines, Iowa). Betty was born February 7, 1931. The youngest of 7 children of John and Anna Erickson, immigrants from Sweden. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage. Betty graduated from East High in 1949. She loved the eastside and lived her entire life there. Betty enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and was proud of their accomplishments. A memorial service for Gene Kooker will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at NewLife Church (6036 NE 12th Ave Pleasant Hill, IA 50327). Visitation will be from 10AM until the time of the service at 12PM.

Gene left us to be with the lord on the morning of February 17h, 2024. Gene passed from complications of a stroke in early January 2024. Born March 1st, 1943 to Halford & Mamie(Vermie) Kooker. He leaves behind wife Barbara Kooker, sons Rod & Marleen Kooker, Mike & Lori Kooker, Trev & Lynn Kooker. Step daughters Jodi Williams & Jana Valdez. Sisters Donna Curry, Judy & Ed Mills. Nine Grandchildren & one Great Grandson. A celebration of life will be held later this Spring.

Marvin "Melvin" Harold Hefel, 84 passed away peacefully on Monday December 25, 2023, surrounded by his family at Ennoble Manor in Dubuque, Iowa. Private family services will be held at a later date. Marvin was born on September 1st, 1939 in Dubuque Iowa, the son of Harold and Lorraine (Dix) Hefel. Marvin was employed by John Deere Dubuque Works for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He married the love of his life Eileen M. Miller on January 23rd 1960. They welcomed three children, Guy, Kevin and Lisa.
