Nancy Peebles McMeans was born in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Clyde Edward McMeans and Minna Peebles Johnson McMeans on August 1, 1942. She died peacefully on June 19, 2024 in Anacortes, Washington from ocular melanoma. Nancy lived in Jonesboro, then in North Little Rock. The McMeans family enjoyed summer trips camping at the Buffalo River State Park and hiking in the Ozarks. In 1957 the family moved to Amarillo, Texas where her father took a job with the Polk Street Methodist Church as the Director of Music. Nancy made lasting friends in Amarillo. Harry was born on February 1st, 1934 to Shiro and Tatsuko Ota in El Centro, California. After Harry graduated from Venice High School in 1952, he went on to study Horticulture at UCLA. After graduating and completing the ROTC program there, he was commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army. He served tours in Vietnam, Korea, got his MBA from USC, attended the NATO Defense College, SHAPE, and multiple assignments at the Pentagon. "Marshall" Dean Harlow, age 77, passed away April 8th, 2024 in Elkhart, Indiana. Dean was born on February 21st, 1947 in Mt. Vernon, Washington, to John (Jack) and Lois Harlow. The family moved to Anacortes in 1955 where Dean was raised and attended the Anacortes schools and graduated with the class of 1965. Dean was a member of the DeMolay in Anacortes. John Dinkins (G'pa John) passed away on April 1st, 2024. He was born on July 22nd, 1942, in Sedro Woolley, WA to Gladys and Thomas Dinkins. John was a small man in stature but had the biggest heart ever ("don't tell anyone"). Family and friends were the most important part of his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved teaching his wife, children, and grandchildren his passion. John was an electrician by trade and a proud member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) until he retired in 2002. Muriel Lindsay, beloved wife and mother, passed away Feb. 13, 2024 at her residence in Oak Harbor. She spent her childhood years growing up in Conway and, later, Mount Vernon, WA. She attended nursing school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse, working at various facilities in Western Washington. She was a talented musician, starting violin lessons as a child, and performed with numerous community productions and with an orchestra in San Diego. William Robert Burress Jr. "Bob" passed away peacefully on February 10th, 2024. Bob was born on January 13th, 1947 in North Carolina to William and Mildred Burress. They moved to WA in 1948 and made their home in Lyman, WA. Bob graduated from SWHS and went on to marry Beverly Osborne.
