Shelton Miles (officially George Shelton Miles III) died Dec. 31, 2023, at age 76 after an extended illness. Shelton was born Sept. 4, 1947, in Greensboro, N.C., the son of Marge Miles and George S. Miles Jr. The family later moved to Atlanta where he graduated from Briarcliff High School in 1965 and from Georgia Tech in 1970 with a B.S. degree in Industrial Management. Shelton's major interests always revolved around things made of wood - he was an loyal Braves fan who enjoyed, playing and teaching guitar, playing competitive tennis, and designing and creating beautiful furniture in his business called Miles of Wood. Mrs. Jo Ann Carter Plunkett, age 84, of Powder Springs, GA, passed away on October 7, 2023. Mrs. Plunkett was born on October 10, 1938, in Chattanooga, TN to her late parents, Mr. Tate Carter and Mrs. Florence Clark Carter. Mrs. Plunket was married to the late Mr. Wayne Plunkett for 53 wonderful years. She was a family-oriented person who especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She could often be found outside on her patio where she spent time in the sunshine. After her retirement from working at I.N.G., she enjoyed traveling with her husband.
