A big blues band is playing songs of joy in Heaven to welcome Nancy Sue Hervey Conlee home. Surrounded by her loving family and prayers of friends, Nancy passed peacefully August 13, 2024. Her sweet spirit is dancing freely now. Nancy Sue was born on October 14, 1944 in Crockett, Texas. Nancy was a dedicated mother, teacher, sister, daughter and dear friend to so many. She spent her formative years in Victoria and graduated from Victoria High. She specialized in Speech and Language Pathology at SMU in Dallas and proceeded to teach youth of all ages in Dallas and then Bryan ISD. Her legacy lives in all the lives she touched. Elmo M. Bird, 96, of College Station passed away on March 17, 2024. Elmo was born on September 25, 1927, to Lee Henry Bird and Jesse Mae Davis Bird in Wortham, Texas. After high school he went on to serve our county in World War II in Europe as a member of the US Army First Calvary Division from 1945 until the end of 1946. He then married the love of his life Tressie Lucille Howard on July 27th, 1947, in Houston, Texas. They spent 74 years married and she passed away on October 13, 2021. Cindy was born October 27, 1939 in Dallas, Texas to Harless & Lucy Dyer of Henderson, Texas. She grew up in Henderson and attended college at North Texas University, Kilgore College and Sam Houston University where she obtained a teaching degree in Education. She taught elementary grades in the Bryan School system for 25 years. Cindy was a lifelong Methodist and enjoyed visiting churches when she traveled. She traveled many parts of the world from above the Arctic Circle down to the Antarctic. Cindy had a full life. She raised horses and attended horse shows in her youth. Jennifer Rosser Chandler, 76, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023. Jennifer was born February 12, 1947 to Sam Sparks and Lilly Grace (Borders) Rosser in Waco, Texas. She and her two older brothers lost their Mother, Lilly Grace, in 1958. When her father remarried in 1962, she gained a second Mother in Jimmie Marie and 3 additional siblings. Jennifer graduated from Victoria High School in 1965, and afterwards, attended Victoria College, where she met her future husband.
