Dorothy Lafitte passed away peacefully on Sunday October 1, 2023, with her husband of 75 years by her side. Born on February 11, 1928, Dorothy Mae Townley Lafitte was a lifelong resident of the Golden Triangle. She was the youngest child of Gillesse Lalande of New Iberia, LA., and Hulen Townley of Weir Mississippi. She attended St Mary's and St James elementary schools, Woodrow Wilson Jr High and graduated in 1946 from Thomas Jefferson high School. Lysabeth Ann "Sissy" Hogan Wood died peacefully Sunday evening, February 26th, in College Station, Texas surrounded by her loved ones. Sissy was born to Tom and Beulah Hogan in Sweetwater in 1935, where Tom was plant manager for the Gulf Oil Refinery. Along with older brother, Tommy, the family moved to Port Arthur in 1936 where Sissy spent the next seventy years. She was educated at St. James Catholic School, Bishop Byrne, and Thomas Jefferson High Schools. She attended Randolph Macon Women's College in Virginia before returning to The University of Texas in Austin where she earned a BA in English. Cecil "Bobby" Vickers Rattray Cecil "Bobby" Vickers Rattray died on Sept. 28 at Oak Grove Nursing Home in Groves, TX., where he had resided for the past two years. He was born on Feb. 17, 1926, in Shettlewood, Jamaica, and moved to the U.S. in 1949. He became a citizen of the United States. He lived in Port Arthur, TX., until Hurricane Harvey flooded his home in 2017. He worked for the Texaco Refinery (Chevron) in Port Arthur for 30 years, mostly as a machinist.
