Jina Aleksandra Varis passed quietly at the age of 83. She was born in Lithuania to Paulius and Kunigunda Varekojis, and emigrated to the United States in 1948. She attended Julliard School of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music, and eventually received a B.A from Northeastern Illinois University in 1988 and a Masters in Music from Northwestern in 1990. She then taught voice for the next thirty years. Jina performed across the country in opera, oratorio, and the concert stage, and taught voice at three colleges and two high schools.
