Betty Lou Winters, age 80 of Bridgeport, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Aperion in Bridgeport. She was born at her family's home near Patrolia on June 10, 1942, to Edgar Powers and his wife Mildred Pauline (Bearly) Powers. On October 3, 1975, Betty married Donald Lee Winters, Sr. He preceded her in death on January 27, 1993. Betty was a "helper". She truly wanted to help everyone she could. That passion was seen in the work she did for over 40 years as a CNA at numerous healthcare facilities within the local area. Melba Jean Folmnsbee, age 96 of Bridgeport, passed away late Friday night, November 11, 2022, at BridgePointe Health Campus of Vincennes, IN. She was born March 6, 1926, in Roxbury, KS to James Martin Ash and his wife Mamie (Rector) Ash. On November 4, 1943, Melba married Homer Cordell Folmnsbee in Roxbury, KS. Together for 72 years, they shared a wonderful life. Homer preceded Melba in death on June 27, 2016. After moving to Bridgeport in 1958, Melba worked at Pete and Rose Cisne's grocery store and Art Shuff's IGA for a while before taking a job at Brian Lumber Company. Steven Lance Cunningham, age 53 of Bridgeport, was born April 14, 1969, the first-born child of Charles Steven Cunningham and his wife Judith Lynn (Devonshire) Cunningham. Lance started school at a very young age. He was so little he had to be lifted onto the bus. He was blessed with truly caring teachers throughout his education.
