Brian Skalbeck, age 81, of Mound, went to his forever home on January 29, 2026 after failing health the last two months due to a kidney cancer diagnosis in 2023. He was born in Granite Falls, MN; was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a 1962 graduate of Sacred Heart High School where he was a skilled athlete playing football, basketball and baseball. He attended Gustavus Adolphus for one year before being named interim U.S. Postmaster of Sacred Heart, MN for three years. Jody Emery, age 67, a longtime resident of Mound, MN, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026. Preceded in death by parents, Richard and Mary McCurdy; and brother, Mark McCurdy. Survived by children, Lindsey (Nick) Jacob, Emily (Chris) Zakashefski, Tyler (Amanda) Emery, Tanner (Tiana) Emery and Taylor Emery; grandchildren, Hendrix, Vada, Lily, Mason, Eva, Eliana, Easton and Serena; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Patricia Ann Dykoski (Recker), of Mound, MN, passed away peacefully at home on September 14, 2025 at the age of 78. Patti was born in Minneapolis on October 15, 1946, to Richard and Lucille Recker. Her lifelong passion was sparked at just 12 years old, the moment she stepped into a gymnasium. Douglas "Doug" Jerome Older, of Isle, a veteran, entrepreneur, and beloved family man, passed away peacefully at home on his 80th birthday, August 17, 2025. Doug's passing came after a long and courageous battle with blindness and other health issues, which were the result of his exposure to Agent Orange during his service in Vietnam.
