Darlis' life story begins in Ferney, South Dakota, born and raised by her parents, Alvin and Adeline Sombke. It didn't take Darlis long to learn how to become a strong woman. She was raised with 5 brothers, and this prepared her for the path of life she was about to start with her husband, Carl, Jr. Darlis and Carl Bue Jr. married June 9th 1957. Making their home in Granite Falls, Minnesota bringing six children into the world, while farming the land. They moved to Browerville, Minnesota in 1970, and this is where they added their 7th child and continued farming on a larger scale. Rose Marie was born on April 9th, 1942, the only child of Royal and Viola (French) Garman of Long Prairie, Minnesota. Rose spent her life in Long Prairie with the exception of spending summers as a child in gravel pits where her toys were dirt and rocks as her father worked his gravel business that spanned across Minnesota from Redwood Falls to Long Prairie. Rose met a young man by the name, Marvin Hillig. Marvin knew he met a beautiful smart woman and asked her to marry him. Betty Ann was born on July 25, 1935, the daughter of Oscar and Inez (Taylor) Wiseth of Marshall County Minnesota. She graduated high school and would later marry Marvin Poegel Sr. The couple were blessed with five children, Roxeann, Marvin Jr., Cheryl, Paul, and Robert. The couple raised their family in Swanville, Long Prairie area. The couple later divorced. Once all the children were in school, Betty started working as a nursing assistant in local nursing homes. She found great joy in caring for and helping the residents. She especially enjoyed caring for the retired priests that resided at St. John's Abby for 20 plus years prior to retirement. Gerald "Jerry" Wayne Van Norman was born on May 29th, 1936, to Orville and Adonna Van Norman. As a young man Jerry met and proposed to the love of his life, Carol Gmeiner. He then enlisted in the Marine Corps and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. He came back on furlough and married, Carol. Fifteen months later their first child was born with seven more children to follow: 4 sons and 4 daughters would complete their family. LaRayne Claire (Robinson) Johnson was born on July 31, 1923, to Leman and Hilma (Nelson) Robinson in Eagle Bend, MN. Her parents farmed near Eagle Bend where she trapped gophers as a child. LaRayne earned her teaching degree at the Staples Normal School and started teaching one year later in southern Minnesota where the wages were better. A couple years later she returned to the Osakis area where she met Kenny. The couple were united in marriage on June 7, 1947, at Osakis Lutheran Church. LaRayne Claire Johnson passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Galeon in Osakis. LaRayne was 21 days short of turning 100 years old. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at the Osakis Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM. Gregory Jerome Lamusga, age 41, passed away on March 4th , 2023 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital after battling severe medical issues. He walked hand in hand with Jesus to greet his grandparents and uncles in Heaven. Greg was born at Long Prairie Hospital on June 25th, 1981. Beverly Alice became a late Christmas present when she was born on December 28, 1938, the daughter of Raymond and Erna (Gilb) Hummel of Vesta, Minnesota. She attended grade school and then helped at her family farm. Beverly was a member of the Girl Scouts and loved to roller skate as a kid, often finishing the night skating with her Dad.
