Born on May 15, 1925, in Humboldt, Ohio, Ginny was the daughter of Marjorie and Frank Chambliss. She attended Buckskin School through her sophomore year before moving to Bainbridge in 1940. Ginny graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1942. On January 24, 1944, Ginny eloped with Robert 'Bob' Haas to Greenup, Kentucky, and the two began a lifelong adventure together.
