Charles William Kleppinger, Jr. of Easton, MD, passed away at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton on November 28, 2023. He was 93. Born July 6, 1930, in Allentown, PA, he was the son of the late Charles Kleppinger Sr. and Dorothy Heyen. He graduated from Emmaus High School in 1948. He then continued his education at Mercersburg Academy and then on to Lehigh University. Charles married his wife, Sarah Joann Beam, on January 26, 1952. They moved their family to Easton, MD on February 29, 1952, to relocate the family business, Delmarva Narrow Fabrics, onto St. Michaels Road. Shirley Elaine (Startt) Callahan of Denton, MD passed peacefully into our Lord's arms on Sunday, September 24, 2023, at Compass Hospice. She was 96 years old. Born and raised in Easton, MD, Shirley was the only child of the late Edward Vincent Startt and Ruth Irene (Van Fleet) Startt. Loretta Emily Riggs of Pasadena passed away peacefully at home on September 16. Born in Baltimore on February 16, 1944 to William and Emily Sobczak, she graduated from Western High School and worked in banking and real estate. She was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, beloved aunt and loyal friend. She loved reading and animals of every kind. She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Wilmer "Buddy" Riggs, and her two brothers, Edward and Valentine. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Herron (Matthew) and two grandchildren, Fischer and Mimmy. Private cremation was held and a celebration of life will occur at a later date.
