Gene L. Vought of Owatonna, born in Jackson County October 4, 1931, to Walter and Lillian Vought, went home to be with his Lord on May 9, 2022, following a prolonged illness. Gene graduated from Willmar High School in 1948 and then married Rita Haldorson of Hancock, MN, on August 27, 1954. Gene worked for Badger Northland Company, and later partnered with Ken Prestegard and Del Hart to found Northland Farm Systems. After retirement, he drove the Library Bookmobile for SE Minnesota for over 12 years. Gene loved to play softball and could fix almost anything. He is well known for his wonderful fudge. Catherine (Cathy) Joachim, 69 years old of Rosemount, MN, passed away on May 2nd 2022, due to complications of liver disease (NASH). She is survived by husband Tom, children Eric, Mark and Kristina and four grandchildren. Service is at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church in Eagan, MN on May 26th, 2022 at 12 p.m. Visitation starts at 11 a.m, luncheon after mass. There will be a live stream of the service on YouTube. Roland Ezra Schauer, 86, of Hamilton, NY, formerly of Washington, DC, passed away April 27, 2022, at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, NY. He was born on December 5, 1935, in Waseca, MN, the son of Ezra W. and Lena Wetzstein Schauer. He graduated from Waseca Central High School in 1954 and entered the U.S. Air Force where he trained as an Aircraft Electrical Repairman at Chanute AFB. Gerald (Jerry) Murdock passed in his AZ home April 15, 2022. Jerry loved his family, tinkering in his garage, was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He served in the Army as a paratrooper for 2 years. He was born in Minneapolis to Hadden (Blackie) and Elaine Murdock January 26, 1953. He is survived by his wife Terri, step daughter Angela Newhouse, grandchildren Brett and Crystal Baumeister, sister Jackie Reisgies, brother Steve (Celeste) Murdock and neices and nephews. Thomas R. Gard passed away peacefully on April 14th, 2022. Tom is the youngest child of Don and Sally. He was born in Duluth, MN on May 5,1964. When he was 4, the family moved to Kenyon, MN. Tom graduated from Kenyon High School in the spring of 1982. In school, Tom was involved in athletics including football, wrestling and cheerleading, along with music as a member of the band and choir. After high school, Tom enrolled at Dakota County Technical College tool and die/machining course. Gale West, 93, formerly of Kenyon, entered his home in heaven on April 5 surrounded in love by his family.Gale was born in Paulina, IA and was 1 of 10 children. He met the love of his life, Glady, on a blind date and they were married shortly after so Glady could move with him when he entered the US Army. Gale was proud to be a Korean War Veteran. Stephen (Steve) Jon Preston, born February 19th, 1939 to Wilbur Arthur and Sarah Hazel (Buchanan) Preston in Marshall County, Iowa, died peacefully with his family by his side on March 30th, 2022 at Colony Court Assisted Living in Waseca, MN from his 2nd fight with lung cancer. She was born to Ernest and Elsie Thoele on April 12, 1920, in New Sweden, Minnesota. In 1938, she married the boy next door, Albin Palmquist.
