Vernal Harold Well, 88, of Darwin, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Darst Private Care Home in Pomeroy. Born January 3, 1936, in Darwin, Ohio, he was the son of the late Vern and Audra Williard Well. A lifelong Meigs County resident, Vernal graduated from Shade High School and is a United States Army veteran. Vernal worked for Kaiser Aluminum as an electrician for forty years before retiring. He was a member of the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge 911, Hemlock Grove Church of Christ and the Athens Elks Lodge. Mickale Hill, 30, of Pomeroy, Ohio, unexpectedly passed away the morning of July 19, 2023. Larry (Lum) M. Well, 81, of Shade, died Sunday, April 16, 2023, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus. Born February 20, 1942, in Bedford Township, Meigs County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Vern C and Audra Willard Well. Lum was a 1960 graduate of Shade High School and belonged to the Brick Layers Union of America. He was a life member of the Harrisonville Masonic Lodge having belonged for 54 years, a member of the Harrisonville OES for 50 years, the Meigs County Izaak Walton League of America and the Gold Ridge Gun Club. Regina "Jeannie" Diane Nuzum, 82, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the Laurel's in Athens. She was born on September 30, 1940, in Clarksburg, WV, daughter of the late Andrew and Sara Kovlan. Jeannie was a cheerleader and an active member of the Athens High School Class of 1958. Early in her life, you could find Jeannie following the "four T's" Timmy, Todd, Terry and Tommy to the various school activities and sporting events. She would later be employed at the State Liquor Store on East State Street and by the Ohio Department of Commerce Industrial Compliance. Howard Mullen, 94, of Pomeroy, passed away at Patrick and Penny Mullen's home in Long Bottom on Sunday October 2, 2022. He had resided with them since December 2021. Born March 20, 1928 in Pomeroy, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles H and Helene Byrne Mullen. Howard attended Sugar Run School, graduated from Pomeroy Senior High School and attended Ohio University. He was a Regular Army Corporal in the United States Army. Nicolai Pavel, 78, of Athens, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, January 19, 2022. Born February 21, 1943 in Romania, he was the son of the late Hristache and Catinca Ghiugan Pavel. He came to America with his family as a visiting professor at Ohio State University in Columbus and the University of Texas in Arlinington. She was a hairdresser and owned and operated Judy's Country Curl for 50 years. Judy was a Member of the Harrisonville Eastern Star 255 and Sew Sisters Quilting Club of Syracuse.
