Gary Thomas Mattox, 69, passed on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at the Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House. Born July 31, 1952 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Olen Thomas Mattox and Annie Rea Dalton Mattox. Educated in the public schools of Iredell County, he attended Morningside High School and graduated from Statesville Sr. High School, class of 1970. He continued his education receiving a Degree in Automotive Mechanic from Mitchell Community College, a Degree in Accounting from Catawba Valley Technical College, and a Degree from Commonwealth School of Mortuary Science. Born March 25, 1961 in Statesville, NC, he was the son the late William Richard Smith and Jeanette Marie Moore Mayberry. Educated in the Iredell County Schools until middle school, the family moved to South Carolina and he graduated from Hillcrest High School, class of 1979. Mr. Billy Ralph Steele, 87, passed away November 28, 2021 at Gordon Hospice House. Born September 3, 1934 in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Claude Lee Steele and Mary Jane Campbell Steele. Educated in the public schools of Iredell County, he graduated from Unity High School, Statesville. Mr. Steele was last employed with Burlington Industries as a dolpher and he served in the United States Army. He was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Harmony. Dr. Levi Vincent Walker was born the second child of the Late Esker Walker and Parilla Vincent Walker on June 29, 1931 in Mebane, NC. At the early age of 10, Levi became a major source of support and stability for his family, after the passing of his father. This is why and how he became such an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman. After attending Graham High School, playing baseball and graduating salutatorian of the Class of 1949 Levi went on to attend, Negro Agricultural and Technical College of North Carolina, now North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, North Carolina. Ingrid Jeannine Flack Hunter, born on August 4, 1948, peacefully transitioned on January 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bishop Louis Hunter, Sr.; her parents, Laron and Irene Flack; brother, Leroy William Timothy Flack; sisters, Nancy Flack and Della LaRene Flack. Ingrid attended the University of Maryland and embarked on a career in the technology field working for IBM and Bell South.
