Rene John Ackerman, 84, of Kiawah Island, SC, passed away Monday, September 13, 2021, at UPMC Passavant-McCandless hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born on Aug 5, 1937 to Stella Pzonek Ackerman and Rene Joseph Ackerman of Jersey City, NJ. Upon graduation from high school (Saint Peter's Prep) and college, Rene joined the U.S. Army as an officer where he used his college finance skills as a member of the Finance Corps branch of the Army. Rene retired from the U.S. Army after completing 30 years of service and progressing to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
