Ret. Maj. Ray S. Putnam died peacefully in his sleep at 6am on May 22, 2022. Born on March 5th 1942 in St. Francisville IL, he earned a master's degree from FSU and served proudly in the Air Force for 18 years. He will be remembered dearly by his wife Elizabeth, son John, and sisters Alice Alcorn, Clara Miller, and Marie . A visitation for Ray will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, FL 32218.

James Steven Lekas Retired U.S. Navy Captain James "Jim" Steven Lekas, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on February 25, 2022, after a prolonged illness. He was 85 years old. James was born on November 14, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. As a child, his family attended Assumption Greek Orthodox Church. He attended the Morgan Park Military Academy and graduated from Austin High School in 1954. He attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he earned a B.S. in Dentistry in 1956 and then enrolled in the University of Illinois College of Dentistry and earned his D.D.S. in 1960. Joan M. Fulmer Hitzges passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 in Fernandina Beach, FL. Joan was born in Buffalo, NY. She attended Mount Saint Mary High Academy in Kenmore, New York. She then went on to become a Dental Hygenist, married John L. Hitzges (preceded in death) and had six children. Later, Joan became a docent for the Buffalo Zoo and upon moving to St. John's, Florida in the early 2000's, she became very active in the San Juan del Rio Catholic Church community. Jacquelyn "Jackie" Inez Strickland Sweat was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She left this world on February 3, 2022, at the age of 83. She was born to Inez and JB Strickland in Valdosta, GA. After graduating from Waycross High School, she met her husband Wallace Seaborn Sweat. They moved to Jacksonville, where they settled and never left. She worked for American National Bank in San Marco for over 40 years.
