Charles Hudson Buck, 91, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 27, 2024. A native of Pitt County, he was born on a farm on July 2, 1933, the fourth of five children to John L. and Minnie M. Buck. He attended Winterville High School and worked on the farm until joining the US Air Force in 1953. During his military career, he had assignments in Biloxi, Mississippi, Anchorage, Alaska, Yuma, Arizona, Hampton, Virginia, Toul, France, Rapid City, South Dakota, Washington, D.C., and Montgomery, Alabama, retiring as a Master Sargent in 1973. Edna Wells Gardner, 72, of Winterville, NC passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Edna was born on June 18, 1951 in Wallace, NC to the late Edward and Verda Wells. She grew up in Wallace and graduated from Wallace Rose Hill High School in 1969. In 1992, she married her true love, James (Jim) Gardner, and started living her life to the fullest. Following in the footsteps of her mother, Verda, Edna was an officer at the Wallace Police Department from 1981 to 1992. From 1993 to 1995 she was a celebrated 911 dispatcher in Woodstock, VA. Cher Nicholson, 56, passed away on Friday, December 2,2022 at ECU Health. She was preceded in death by her father, Mack Nicholson. Cher is survived by her mother, Lillia Nicholson of Williamston; sons, Christopher of Bethel and Steven Daughety of Greenville and Lonnie Nicholson of the home; and 5 grandchildren.
