Debra Marie "Debi" (Rust) Scherschel, 65, of Highland, Illinois passed away at 8:05 a.m. on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at her home. Debi was born January 16, 1956 in Herrin, Illinois, a daughter of the late Duane Rust and Doris J. "Suni" and Robert N. "Bob" Lee. On June 7, 1980, Debi married Dennis C. Scherschel at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin, Illinois and he survives. In October of 1980, the newly wed couple took their dog, Boo, and the rest of their belongings and moved to live on the mountainside near Joseph, Oregon where they began their marriage. After other moves, around 1985, the Scherschels moved to Highland, Illinois where they have resided. She...
