Edward (Sam) Martula 76, of Hadley, died December 27, 2020 surrounded by family. Edward was born June 12, 1944 to Michael and Jennie (Zalot) Martula. Predeceased by his younger brother Peter Martula who passed away on June 6, 2020. Edward was a graduate of Hopkins Academy and then completed 2 years post-graduate work at Smith Vocational School, studying Auto Mechanics. Edward's first job after school was at Valley Automatic Transmission. He also worked at Hadley Auto Service and B & M Construction. Robert Louis Herbert died of a stroke at Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA on December 17, 2020 at the age of 91. Bob was the next-to-last surviving child of eight, born to his railway-worker father and a mother the children called "the general," with good reason. For primary school, Bob was taught by a single teacher in a two-room schoolhouse in Mystic, CT. Along with his parents and siblings, his teacher instilled him with a life-long love of learning. George Wright Jr., 76, of Easthampton, Mass., passed away peacefully at his home on November 20,2020, while surrounded by his family. He was born on February 27, 1944, in Northampton. He was the fourth child born to the late Cora (Herman) Reyor/Wright and the late George Wright Sr. George remained strong, as always, as he fought a courageous battle against cancer. George was a graduate of Smith Vocational High School. Soon after, he decided to serve his country in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordnance man with an Attack Squadron, deploying on the maiden voyage of the USS Enterprise CVN-65. William Allison, 79 of Milford died August 22, 2020 peacefully in his sleep. He was born on August 24, 1940 to Lucienne and Calixte Allison in Manchester. William graduated from Central High in Manchester and was an army medic during the Vietnam war. In the late 70's he became owner of Tire Warehouse in Manchester where he enjoyed working for a number of years. He is preceded in death by his parents. Phyllis Ann Ebner Gerber passed peacefully on June 15 following a 5-year illness. She was surrounded by flowers, her family, a rose scented candle and Beatles music. Phyl, as she was known to everyone, spent her early years in West Haven, CT and at a young age moved to Great Neck, NY where she attended Saddle Rock Elementary School and Great Neck North Junior and Senior High Schools. Bill and Irene - who were married in London, England almost 66 years ago-had recently relocated to Easthampton to be near their children. Bill was a gentle and brilliant man, whose family cannot recall him ever getting angry or raising his voice.
