Josephine "Jo" Howard Caraway died August 20, 2024. She was born July 6, 1934 to the late Thomas A. "Gus" and Ruth Shipe Howard. Jo was educated in Tennessee public schools and received her B.S. and M.S. degree in education from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She taught in public schools in Atlanta, GA; Sullivan, Knox, and Johnson Counties; Etowah and Alcoa, TN city schools and Carroll County, VA. After retirement she volunteered in the Johnson County Schools, the senior center of Mountain City and the First United Methodist Church. Ken Caraway died Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Hillview Health and Rehabilitation in Elizabethton, TN. He was born June 3, 1933 to the late Charlie and Edith Caraway. Ken received BA and MA degrees in English Literature from ETSU and a BD degree from Candler School of Theology, Emory University. Ronnie Edward Dunn, age 75, of Mountain City, TN passed away on October 30, 2021 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was born in Johnson County, TN on October 2, 1946 to the late Edward Paul Dunn and Radell McCoy Dunn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kathy Sue Forrester Dunn; sons, Frankie Edward Dunn and Joseph "Joe" Dunn; sisters, Shirley Sheets, Peggy Barton, Patsy Forrester, Evelyn Sewell; brothers, Danny Dunn, Hobert Dunn and Gino Dunn. Maxine Funderburk, age 79, of Mountain City, TN went to be with her Lord on Friday October 2, 2020 at The Waters of Roan Highlands. Maxine was born on March 9, 1941 to the late Theodore and Lula Timbs in Carter County, Tennessee. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband of 56 years, Roy "Pete" Funderburk; son, Roy E. Funderburk Jr; four sisters; two brothers and one nephew. Maxine was a wonderful lady one was loved by all that knew her. During her life she took care of many people and always had a way of making everyone feel special. Dorothy "Dot" Mae Snyder, age 83, of Mountain City, TN, passed away on November 26, 2019. Dot was born December 25, 1935 to Monroe and Sally Combs Bare. Dot and her late husband, Oscar Snyder moved to Alcoa, TN, where they spent 40 years until her illness brought her back to Mountain City. A graveside service will be conducted at Sunset Memorial Park at noon on November 30, 2019. Rev. Raleigh Mack Arnold Sr., age 78, of Mountain City, Tennessee, went on to be with the Lord Thursday, June 20, 2019 Mack was a pastor for 33 years at the Porters Grove Baptist Church in Conowingo, MD where he retired. After he retired he returned to Mountain City, TN where he did pulpit fill-ins and revivals for the remainder of his life. In his ministry there were over 2,000 souls saved.
