Scott Allen Thompson was born on October 25, 1967, in Carrington, ND, the son of Russell and Solveig Thompson. Scott graduated from GSM (Glenfield, Sutton, McHenry) High School. Scott furthered his education by attending Dakota Aero Tech. Once he finished school, Scott started spraying for Dan Lowe in 1986. Scott joined Tri-State Aviation in Wahpeton before starting an aerial spraying business with Ron Berg and Scott Miller, agreeing to the name of Thompson Farm Air because he was the chief pilot. Scott made his way to South Dakota in May of 1994 to take a job spraying for the Co-op due to a wet year in South Dakota. It was in Estelline, where Scott met the love of his life, Donna Thompson. The couple made their home in Estelline, SD. To this union they had 3 daughters; Camille, Danielle and Chandelle. Scott worked for Estelline Community Oil managing the warehouse and running his spray plane. Later Scott and Donna formed Thompson Farm Air, LLC and after 22 years they decided to pass along the family business to one of their trusted pilots, Brady Fast. Scott was very proud to farm alongside his wife, brother-in-law Dale and nephew Dustin. Scott loved farming, he would always beam when one of the girls came out to the field to ride along, but they always knew not to ask to run the combine, because you would get told NO!
His girls were the joy of his life, he never missed an event no matter how far he had to travel. His girls could always count on him to be there whenever they needed him. Scott also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids. When Papa walked in they would just beam with smiles. During harvest you would find them riding along and learning about everything. He always took the time to teach and explain things to them. They also had many fun adventures while gopher hunting and when Sunday Fun-day came around; Scott was always ready for a competitive card game.
Throughout his life, Scott had many passions. He thoroughly enjoyed his many years of flying and always loved when his girls would make the suggestion to go along. His biggest passion was riding his motorcycle. He found so much joy, relaxation and fun going for a ride to get away and take a break. He always looked forward to the special family rides as well as riding with his friends and was especially excited to share with his family about the trip when he got home! He was always ready to go on a trip or adventure. Scott was also very proud to still own the Thompson Family Homestead in Carrington, ND. Scott also dedicated his time to being a part of the Estelline Volunteer Fire Department for many years and also served on the SDAA Board, Estelline Elevator Board and the Estelline Community Oil Board.
More than anything, Scott will be lovingly remembered for his glowing smile, his forgiving ability to never hold a grudge, and the love he had for his family and friends.
