Arrangements by Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 South Main Street. Scott Douglas Franz was born on March 5, 1973, to James and Wanda (Hart) Franz in Arlington Heights, IL. His family moved to Frederick, SD, for a short time before moving to Newcastle, WY. When he was 16, Scott moved back to Frederick. Scott attended high school there and played football until getting a knee injury. He also helped show cattle for the Hart Family. Scott lived in Las Vegas, NV, from 1994-1998, before returning to Frederick. In 2001, he moved to Aberdeen. He worked for Inman Irrigation, Hart Farms where he was known as 'Red Dog', and Midstates Printing, where he got the nickname 'Papa Smurf'. Scott collected model farm toys, recently got into model airplanes, and loved gaming. He liked ice cream and enjoyed making his special soup, which he liked to call "Creation". Scott was a fan of the Seattle Seahawks, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bulls. He enjoyed spending time with his friends. He especially loved spending time with his granddaughters and was patiently waiting for the arrival of his first grandson. (Liam arrived April 15.) Grateful for having shared Scott's life are his children: Samantha (Brett) Hockenbrock, Britton, SD, Austin (Brittany) Fehr, Aberdeen, and Cole (Alice Scott) Fehr, Aberdeen; grandchildren: Delilah Maxwell, Natylee Hockenbrock, Shelbee Hockenbrock, Leighton Fehr, and Liam Fehr; a half-brother: Justin Franz; stepbrother: Wade Vik; stepsister: Rinda Storkamp; his father: James Franz; and stepfather: Dennis Vik.
