November 3, 1927 to January 18, 2021
Saul succumbed to the ravages of Covid-19.
Born in Akron, Ohio to Russian immigrant parents Abraham I. and Ossie Frieden Ostrov, he was a tall gentle soul with size 17 shoes. Married to Janet Shulan( deceased 2017) in 1948, they were very much in love during their 68 years of marriage, and enjoyed golfing together.
Contracting Polio in 1952, he fought hard to regain his mobility and strength, eventually becoming a low-handicap amateur golfer playing in one foursome for 25 years, and became a talented professional golf coach.
The consummate family man, he and his wife Jan were always in attendance at special family events. After a successful career in the Insurance business with his father in Akron, Ohio , he retired early to South Florida.
He is predeceased by his sister Jeannette Framer of Galveston, Texas. He leaves two children, Steven Ostrov,M.D.(Josephine) of Tallahassee, FL. and Lyn Ostrov(Terry) of Tacoma Park, MD., and grandchildren Jamie deSieyes ( Evan ) of Aptos, CA., and Laura Schonberg ( David) of Montara, CA. , as well as 4 great grandchildren.
Due to the Covid Pandemic, a private immediate family virtual funeral is planned. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Saul's name to Big Bend Hospice (www.bigbendhospice.org) of Tallahassee, Florida.
