Sarah Elizabeth (Hall) Pentz was born February 26,1924 in Dallas to Albert B. Hall and Eleanor P. Hopkins Hall. Sarah Pentz died peacefully at the age of 97 on November 7, 2021. Her husband Robert H. Pentz died in 1993.
"Red" was the only redhead and the youngest sister of seven siblings. A patient and loving caregiver, she devoted herself to her sister Eleanor when she lost her life to breast cancer. She also cared for Eleanor's children, her mother through old age, and her husband through a lengthy battle with Alzheimer disease.
Sarah graduated from Highland Park High School and received a degree in education from The University of Texas at Austin, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. With her mother and sisters, she also was a member of The Colonial Dames of America.
Sarah taught elementary school in Houston for 25 years. She married Bob Pentz and they moved to Dallas in 1974. They enjoyed traveling together until Bob became incapacitated. After his death Sarah continued to devote herself to caring for others and to her dogs. Always mentally alert, she loved visiting with people and playing games such as Scrabble and the daily Jumble.
Sarah is survived by her brother Charles W. Hall and his wife Anne Harrington Hall of Houston and many fond nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, her siblings and their spouses: Albert B. Hall, Jr. (Virginia "Gin"); Eleanor Hall Etheridge (Clark); Katherine "Kitty" Hall Arbuckle (Ernest); Mary Hall Carter (Robert "Bob"); John H. Hall (Marion), and sister-in-law, Mary Lou Watkins Hall.
Special thanks to the wonderful people at Monticello West, where she lived the last 13 years of her life.
A graveside service will be held at a date to be determined.
