Sarah Elizabeth Chastain, 22 of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on May 27, 2022, in her home in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on July 31, 1999, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, she was the younger sister to Austin and the older sister to Rebecca.
Sarah grew up in Anchorage, Kentucky and attended Anchorage School. She played field hockey, lacrosse and participated in Anchorage Children’s Theatre. For several years during elementary and middle school she travelled nationally as a member of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation advocating for children’s health and wellness.
Sarah graduated from Christian Academy of Louisville where she played Field Hockey, Lacrosse and ran Cross County and Track. She loved to travel, and travels included visiting Spain and surrounding countries, Canary Islands a few times and Haiti.
Sarah attended the University of Kentucky where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a minor in Philosophy, 2021. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority; participated in leading Freshmen Orientation groups and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House. She had just completed her first year in the University of Kentucky’s Patterson School of Public Policy Master’s program in Public Policy. This spring, Sarah was competitively selected and received a Research Fellowship with the Legislative Research Committee in Frankfort, Kentucky. In that position, Sarah was currently working on Governor Beshear and Congressman Hal Roger’s goal of bringing broad band internet service to all of Kentucky.
Sarah was a passionate extrovert who loved all her friends, their friends and their friends’ friends and they all loved her back in return. She was always the girl in the room with the biggest smile and the warmest welcome. She made friends easily and was always surrounded by their glow. We are all truly heartbroken that she is gone.
She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Samuel Earl Miller, I. She is survived by her parents, Robert and Dr. Melissa Chastain; her brother and sister, Austin and Rebecca; her maternal grandmother, Judi Miller; her paternal grandparents, Ben and Margaret Swindler, as well as her uncle and aunt, Sam and Sherry Miller and their children Sam Miller, III and Taylor Scott.
Sarah Elizabeth Chastain is her father’s most favorite daughter in heaven. His sole comfort, is knowing that the only one that loved Sarah more than him, is Jesus Christ.
