Sara Speck Malaspina, a person with a passion for life, passed away on October 20, 2022 at the age of 95 in Huntsville, AL.
She was born to Paul and Christine Speck in Phillip, Mississippi and later the family moved to New Albany, MS to the family farm. There she developed her life-long love for animals, especially horses.
After graduating from New Albany High School, she moved to Memphis, TN where she met her husband, Richard and then moved to Panama where he was stationed in the Navy. She lived in most of the East Coast Naval cities over the next few years and had a career in the civil service and retired after years of working at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville Alabama. During this time she developed her love for dogs and after retirement she worked in the Huntsville Humane Society thrift store for some 20 years and worked to prevent cruelty for all animals
She is preceded in death by her parents Paul and Christine Speck, sister Katheryn Sloan Ramey, and first husband Richard Dikeman
She is survived by her son Michael Dikeman of Pell City Alabama; grandsons Michael Dikeman, Jr. of Little Rock Arkansas and Robert 'Bo' Dikeman (Kristy) of Birmingham Alabama, Andrew Dikeman of Pell City Alabama; granddaughter Mary Barbara Adams (Josh) of Marietta Georgia; great granddaughter Grace Dikeman of Tuscaloosa Alabama; great grandsons Jackson Dikeman of Birmingham Alabama, Walter and Henry Adams of Marietta, Georgia; and nephew Gene Sloan (Diane) of Saltillo Mississippi.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00p.m. with Bro. Stephen Ewing officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30p.m. until service time.
