Sara Elizabeth Chase, 80, died Wednesday, November 3, 2021, surrounded by family at Sanctuary Hospice, following a brief illness. She was born in Thorn, June 3, 1941, to the late George Vaughn "Bud" and Lois Langley. She was a graduate of Houston High School and Freed Hardeman College. She retired as General Accountant with International Paper of Houston. She was an avid supporter of Houston High School Band during the many years her husband was the band director. She remained a faithful member of the Houston ladies bridge club where she rarely missed a game. She was a member of North Jackson St. Church of Christ while in Houston; and spent her final years in Ecru living near her daughter and grandchildren, where she was a member of the Northeast Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Southern Funeral Chapel, with Brother Mike McLemore and Brother Trey Haskett officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday, November 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 at the funeral home.
Sara is survived by her children Rob Chase (Courtney) of Hernando, and Emily Speck (Wilson) of Ecru; Her sister Ruth Griffin of Chamblee, GA; her brothers Harley Langley (Sue) of Houston, Billy Langley of Clermont, FL, Douglas Langley (Charleen) of Woodland, and Bobby Langley (Jeanette) of Amory; her brothers-in-law Tommy Chase (Marjorie) of Booneville and Ray Chase of Algoma; and her grandchildren Hannah Chase, Bailee Chase, Logan Chase, Caroline Speck, Allyson Speck, and Will Speck.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Paul Chase, her parents Bud & Lois Langley, and two sisters Johnnie Duncan and Lorette Wheeler.
