Sandra "NANA" Mendez Medina our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend peacefully entered eternal rest on May 31, 2022, at home in San Antonio, TX. at the age of 61, with her loving husband by her side. Sandra was born to her parents Geronimo G. and Maria R. Mendez on April 19, 1961, in San Antonio, TX.
Sandra is survived by her devoted husband of 38 years Willie L. Medina, her two children: Amanda (James E.) Fox, William S. (Allison) Medina, ten grandchildren: Desiree (Zachary) Acuna, Corina, James Jr, Derrek, Orion, Amari, Destiny, Avery "Avory", Jaden "Jayden", two great grandchildren: Liam, Ariella
Her mother Maria R. Mendez, sister and brother-in-law Suzanne M. (Epifano C.) Guajardo.
She worked twenty plus years for the Bexar County Juvenile Detention Center as a food service director for Aramark, where she traveled to different facilities in the United States to help establish stronger coordination with their food service guidelines. She was later published in their magazine because of many accomplishments for how she achieved in restructuring the facilities. After illness struck, she later retired from her position to spend more quality time with her husband and family.
Sandra "Nana" was the life of the party, she was the center of our family. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, amazing love, her generosity, and her fiery spirit! She will also be remembered for her pranks she loved pulling, and that goofy giggle she did after!! She always opened her home to many gatherings for family and close friends for any occasion. Sandra "Nana" loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and always went above and beyond to make sure they were taken care of. She enjoyed sitting outside on her patio with her husband tending to her cat "Yellow", filling up her bird feeder, and watching the sunset, and every time the deer walked onto her yard, she had to take a picture and send it to us. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and best friends Angie and Ron to the casinos. If she wasn't traveling, she was playing her games on her tablet sitting in her favorite chair. Her favorite game she loved to play while traveling in the car was the Volkswagen "bug" game, she taught us all how to play, which she always would say "You're cheating I didn't see it!". Continue the game, she would love it.
Sandra "Nana" impacted many people she encountered; she left many memories.
"Nana will forever be carried in our hearts."
