Samuel "Sam" Sundin, age 82, of Lake Lillian, MN died Sunday, July 30, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be Monday, August 14, 2023 at 1 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian with Rev. David Nelson officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Tromso Cemetery. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with K-M Funeral Home, Lake Lillian, MN.
Samuel Nels Sundin was born March 20, 1941 the son of Robert and Oral (Nelson) Sundin of Lake Lillian. The family moved to Hopkins in 1943 and Sam attended Hopkins High School until he enlisted into the United States Marines at the age of 17 on April 1, 1958. He continued to serve active duty in the Marines until 1961 and then in the Marine Reserves until he was honorably discharged on March 31, 1964. Sam worked at White Motor, Servi-Soft, as a school bus driver and fertilizer plant during his life. He met Marsha Hamilton in 1978 and in 1989 they moved back to Lake Lillian to be on the family farm. They were united in marriage on August 26, 1998.
Sam is survived by his wife, Marsha Sundin; his three children: Penni Sorenson of Hamel, Joelle (and Tim) Lange of Shakopee and Paul (and Sherry) Sundin of Annandale; his brother Michael (and Deb) Sundin of Litchfield; his four grandchildren: Taylor, Samantha, Lotia and Hunter; his two sisters-in-law: Myra (and Gary) Beildman and Mary Hamiliton and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Oral; and his five siblings: Raymond Sundin, Robert Sundin Jr., Marjorie Niesen, Mary Jay and Vicky Murphy.
