Mr. Samuel E. Stoler, 80, of Waynesboro, PA and formerly of Greencastle, PA and State Line, PA passed away Monday, July 18, 2022, in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born September 18, 1941 in Waynesboro, he was the son of the late William E. and Trevia (Petrie) Stoler. Mr. Stoler served with the PA National Guard from 1959 until 1967. He served with the 104th Armored Calvary. He and his wife of over 60 years, Linda A. (Helfrick) Stoler, were married on September 2, 1961 in Hagerstown, MD. Mr. Stoler worked for over 40 years at Mack Truck, Hagerstown, MD. He retired in 2002. He was also a co-owner of C.V. Diesel Service, Greencastle, PA, for many years. He was a life member of the Greencastle Sportsman's Association and a member of American Legion Post #373, Greencastle and Harry Zeigler V.F.W. Post #6317, Greencastle. Mr. Stoler was a former member and past president of the Franklin County Snowmobile Club and was a snowmobile safety training instructor. He was also a proud member of the Waynesboro Tigers Football Team Alumni. Mr. Stoler was an avid woodworker. He was active with the State Line Little League, including helping to umpire and teaching umpires. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, William R. Stoler (Laurie) of Greencastle and Robert L. Stoler of Waynesboro; three grandchildren, Stephanie Stoler, Kristen Stoler Reven (Patrick) and Austin Stoler; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was the last of his immediate family.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Carbaugh and Genevieve Roland. A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Salem Church, 4881 Salem Church Road Waynesboro, with Pastor Brent Mangus officiating. The public is welcome to attend and the family will greet family and friends both prior to and following the graveside service.
