On Wednesday, July 1, 2020, Samuel Gene Crockett went to be with his Lord and Savior. He passed peacefully at home with his wife Rosemary and daughter Sarah by his side.
Samuel was born on December 25, 1939 to Buell and Carrie (Maris) Crockett in Paoli, Indiana. Sam was married to Rosemary (Stancombe) Crockett on July 16, 1989. They would have celebrated their 31 anniversary this month. They were members of Lifeway Baptist Church. Sam was a member of the Air Force Reserve serving with 434th Tactical Airlift Wing Division from 1963-and honorably discharged in 1969 as Staff Sergeant. Sam was a member of the Stanford Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Sam loved to hunt quail with his bird dogs, loved gardening, and was an IU Basketball fan but mostly loved his family, especially his seven grandchildren. Sam was a quiet man who loved his Lord and set this example for his grandchildren. He loved riding the little grandchildren in a wagon behind his mower . The grandchildren loved spending nights at grandma and papaw's house. Sam was known to always run out to buy the grandchildren donuts for breakfast on Sunday morning before going to Church together. These little memories are priceless.
Sam was an Engineer and draftsman at Westinghouse/ABB for 27 years and then continued to work as a draftsman with different stone companies in Bloomington and Bedford. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Buell and Carrie Crockett and infant son Mark Crockett.
Sam is survived by his wife Rosemary (Stancombe) Crockett,
Children Scott Crockett (Sadae) of Michigan, Janet (Mark) Borgers of Oregon, Kelly Puffer (Reagan) of Utah, Sarah Myers of California and Mark (Amanda) Myers of Indiana.
Grandchildren are Sam Jones, Clinton Jones, Sean and Sarina Crockett, Lance Borgers, and Brayden and Jayden Myers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gideons International or Premier Hospice of Indiana.
Celebration of Life will be later at an undetermined date.
