Sam Beattie passed peacefully at In-Touch Hospice February 28, 2021 after suffering from multi myeloma for 6 years. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Sonja (Horning) Beattie. Daughter, Wendy Jo Beattie. Sister, Deborah Blizzard of North Carolina. Sister-in-law, Elaine Beattie of Berlin. Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Sam's hunting and fishing buddies, Jeff Shaffer and Nelson Bailey. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Beattie. Grandma, Lillie Lohr. Son, Sam Jr. Sister, Annie. Brothers, Bud, Charlie, and Bob. Niece, Connie. Nephews, Charles Jr., Richard, Matthew, and Bradley. Sam was a 1958 graduate of Meyersdale High School and 1963 Graduate of California State College. He was employed 38 years by the Department of Welfare as a caseworker. Sam was a true hunter and fisherman and loved his flower gardens. He was a member of the Garrett Lutheran Church, Salisbury Elk Lick Hunting Club, NRA, PARSE, and Old Timers Club. Our special thanks to his nieces, Wanda Bailey and Bonnie Gary, whom Sam called his angels. Thanks to Dr. Higbee and their staff, Dr. Platt, In-Touch Hospice for all their help with Sam. Thanks to all our family and friends and wonderful neighbors through this difficult time. Sam loved all of our pets and family gatherings. Per his wishes there will be no Funeral Services.
