Sam McCrea, Jr., 70, departed this life on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Autumn Lake Nursing Home in New Britain, CT, after a battle with dementia. He leaves his loving wife of 31 years, Dianne Daniels McCray, to mourn his passing. Born in Nesmith, SC, on May 1, 1951, he was the son of the late Dudley McCray and Louise Singletary McCray. He had resided in Meriden, CT and attended Battery Park High School.
Sam was employed by EIS Mfg. Co. for 27 years and Southwick and Meister Manufacture for 20 years and retired in February 2017. He was a member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church.
Besides his wife, Dianne, he is survived by his daughter, Lashonda Harrell of Windsor, CT, his sons, Sam McCray of Nesmith, SC and Norris Bond of Middletown, CT and his five grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Lillie Patterson, Betty McCray, NeLouther Freeman all of Middletown, CT, Drothy Eddy and Lauran McCray of Lake City, SC; his brothers, Dudley McCray of Middletown, CT, Michael McCray of Nesmith, SC; sisters-in-law, Barbara Daniels, Louise Ward of Meriden, brothers-in-law, MC Daniels of Milledgeville, GA, John Daniels, Myron Daniels (Jackie), Alfonso Daniels, all of Meriden, CT, Austel Daniels (Carolyn) of Daytona Beach, FL, Asad Daniels of Hamden, CT, Thomas Daniels (Dorothy) of Spotsylvania, VA, Calvin Ready of Middletown, CT, David Butler, James Pressley of Nesmith, SC; along with a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Friday, April 8th from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, 84 Franklin St., Meriden, CT 06450. His funeral service will commence at 11 a.m. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. The burial will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of the John J.
