It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected death of Salvatore Joseph Jude Lucido on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Sal was born on February 11, 1967, in Gloucester, MA to Janet (Martell) and Salvatore Lucido.
Sal's family relocated to Litchfield, NH in 1973. He attended Trinity High School in Manchester, NH where he was elected to the National Honor Society, he was a four-year football lineman, ran track, and was president of S.A.D.D. Upon graduation he attended Stonehill College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1989 with a degree in Political Science with an English Minor.
Sal attended George Washington University, where he received his Master of Public Administration in 1991. Upon graduation, he received a Presidential Management Internship. He joined the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta, GA. He was with the CDC for 32 years. At the time of his passing, he was an Associate Director dealing with chronic diseases. He also had a rotation on the Covid research team. He was assigned to the State, Tribal, and Local and Territorial Task Force where he served as the lead for the policy and public health partnership team on their task force. Sal also earned a degree from Georgia State School of Law. Sal served as an adjunct professor at Clayton University on Atlanta, GA, where he taught American History.
He traveled extensively for both business and pleasure throughout the U.S. and Europe. He was able to visit Sicily and Nova Scotia. He knew his roots on both sides of his family. He organized "The Lucidos of Gloucester" page and was an active contributor to the "Lucido Family" page which has brought together Lucidos worldwide. Sal belonged to several organizations including Jaycee's (Atlanta), Knights of Columbus (N.H.), and The Elks (Tucker, GA) to mention a few. In June 2023, Sal was inducted into the Trinity High School Hall of Honors for outstanding support.
Sal is survived by his parents, Salvatore, and Janet Lucido; his sister, Gayle, and husband Paul Movalli; three nieces, Catherine Movalli and her daughter Marley Elwell, Grace Movalli, and Lauren Movalli. He is also survived by aunts and uncles, Mary (Lucido) and Craig McCoy; Joseph Lucido (godfather); Theresa (Lucido) and Robert Carney Doyle; Lawrence McEachern; Julie Williams; godmother, Ann Howard. He is also survived by many cousins and friends including Billy Fraga, Darren and Janine Flagg Larry and D'Anne Hilsmier, and Tom and Lisa Bratting, to name a few. Sal was the proud godfather of Catherine Movalli, Cole Hilsmier, and Maddie Zimmerman.
Sal was predeceased by his grandparents, Joe and Elizabeth Martell, Gasper, and Rose (Piscitello) Lucido; uncles and aunts, Jack and Sally Lucido, Rosalie McEachern, Tom Lucido, and Joyce Lucido; and cousins, Kevin Rose, Keith Rose, and Timothy Lucido.
Sal's funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in St. Ann's Church, 73 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, MA at 11 a.m. A preceding visitation in the church will begin at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sal's name to St. Ann's Church, 73 Pleasant Street, Gloucester, MA 01930 and to Trinity High School, 581 Bridge Street, Manchester, NH 09104.
