ARLINGTON - Sally Jo Bartlett Reasor, 72, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2024, with family by her side in an Arlington hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral Service: 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in Live Oak Chapel at Greenwood, 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107; with a visitation one hour prior to service at Greenwood Funeral Home in Memorial Suite C and D, 3344 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas 76107.
Sally was born July 20, 1952, in Lufkin, Texas to the late Bobbye (York) and Ernest Level Bartlett Jr.. She attended Texas Christian University, preceding a 20+ year teaching career in Arlington ISD focused on the youngest students.
She met Ron, her best friend and the love of her life, at a laundromat in Fort Worth where he insisted she was using too much soap. Although the amount of soap needed remains in dispute, their love and dedication to each other do not. He picked her up for their first date on his Honda 450 motorcycle, thus beginning the ride of a lifetime. Her last weeks were spent in the hospital. Ron slept by her side every night.
Years later, Sally and Ron became known as SaSa and Dadoo to their seven grandchildren and extended family. The nicknames became official (and possibly legal?) when their Texas license plates assumed the monikers. SaSa and Dadoo quickly became fans of whatever sport or art form their grandkids chose to pursue and were seen at soccer, baseball, softball, football, basketball, lacrosse and ballet recitals all over Dallas/Fort Worth, and even places like Cooperstown. They were avid travelers, with some favorite spots being Estes Park, Banff, Alaska and Australia. SaSa often talked about the "girl's trip" to Oregon.
Family was important to Sally with Lufkin being a frequent gathering place. Yearly family reunions at Pine Island gave her the chance to reconnect with her siblings, her aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, second-cousins, third-cousins and any other kind of cousin there is. Every summer, Pine Island is where family was, and so Sally was there too. No doubt there is a rousing game of Shanghai or Dirty Dog being played in heaven, just as it was at Pine Island.
After her beloved mom, Bobbye, passed away in 2017, Christmas festivities moved from the Bartlett home in Lufkin to the Reasor home in Arlington. "Christmas at SaSa's" is an annual tradition filled with hidden stockings, snowball baseball, presents and more food than any one family could expect to consume in a day. She loved having everyone together with laughter and joy abounding. She welcomed all with open arms and made everyone feel loved and connected.
Sally loved her church and bible study friends from First Methodist Mansfield, yoga and zumba friends, teacher and co-worker friends, neighbor friends and travel friends. She was a friend to many, and she will be missed.
Sally is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ron; children, Jason and his fianc?e, Cindy and Scott and his wife, Kacy; grandchildren, Rachel, Gracie, Wesley, Haley, Hudson, Hadley and Bradyn; brothers, Bill and Ben and his wife, Hollie; and numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
