Ryan Bradley Walz, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 26 at age 80. Born at home to Eva and Herman Walz in Burton, Idaho, on October 9,1943, he graduated from Madison High School in 1961. He moved to Sunnyvale, California, where he worked modeling rocket motors for the United Aircraft Corporation. He later moved to Pocatello, Idaho, graduating from Idaho State University in 1969, and lived there for the remainder of his life.
Ryan lived a long, full life and was a wonderful father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. He was an active, intelligent, adventurous pilot, racecar driver, and coach, a talented car builder, and loved rock climbing, skiing, camping, hiking and rappelling through the lava caves of Craters of the Moon and the narrow canyons of Zion National Park. A passionate reader, his favorites were history, westerns and detective crime novels, and he enjoyed watching NASCAR and other sports. We will miss him deeply.
Ryan is survived by his son, John Walz and Liva Rigney-Walz, son David and Alicia Sanguinetti, his daughter Kimberly and Troy McKinnon; his grandchildren Paul and Emma Gardner, Gibson, Dominick, Avy, Anthony, Daley and Jesse; and his great-grandchildren Neo, Belle, Minea and Ruben. He had many nieces, nephews and cousins who loved him as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ann, brother Rex and sister Beverly.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 5, at 11 a.m. at Flamm Funeral Home (61 N 1st E, Rexburg, Idaho) with a viewing starting at 10 a.m.
