Ruthie L. (Jahn) Bohnert, 73, Knightstown, passed away on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 after a short illness. She was born in Dubois County, IN, on March 15, 1948, one of 10 children, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Schneider) Jahn. Ruthie is a 1966 graduate of Jasper High School. She married Norman Bohnert on September 2, 1967 in Jasper, IN.
Ruthie was a successful real estate broker in Knightstown for 28+ years. Yet to retire, she owned and operated her own business, Ruthie Bohnert Realty. Although private and quiet, Ruthie held many wonderful membership positions: Tri Kappa Sorority, Make A Difference in Knightstown, St. Michael Catholic Church in Greenfield, and St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Naples, FL. Ruthie also enjoyed volunteering and gave much of her time to: 30 years in planting flowers with The Knightstown Square, Naples Botanical Gardens, and St. Matthew's House in Naples, FL. Ruthie spent her time both here in Indiana and in Florida. While in Indiana, Ruthie cherished her time spent with her children, grandchildren, and additional family and friends. While in Florida, Ruthie enjoyed soaking up the sun near the pool, going to the beach, and taking walks with her dog.
Ruthie is survived by her children: Trevor Bohnert (fianc?, Donna Timblin) and Nathan (Michelle) Logan; 9 grandchildren: Michael Bohnert, Thomas Bohnert, Lilly Logan, Alex Logan, Scarlett Logan, Violet Logan, Reese Bohnert, Lane Bohnert, and Cole Bohnert; sisters: Darlene Kordes, Shirley Heichelbech, Dottie Boeckman, and Sally Lee; sister-in-law, Nancy Smith; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and beloved dog, Finnley Rose.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 45 years, Norman Bohnert; and 5 siblings.
Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Greenfield, IN, has been honored to assist Ruthie and her family during their loss. Visitation and the Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father's Aaron and John officiating. Ruthie was laid to rest next to her husband in Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's House and/or Naples Botanical Gardens.
