Mrs. White was born on July 25, 1931, in Helmic, Texas, to the late Arthur Due and Addis (Young) Due, and died Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Lufkin.
In her younger days she enjoyed volleyball, academics, and won the state poetry contest. Ruth was a homemaker, a wonderful cook, seamstress and gardener. She enjoyed taking her daughters to church and sewing their Easter Sunday dresses every year. She loved playing games like "42", chicken foot, spades and the family's home-made marble game and was quite competitive in nature during these frequently heated games. You never wanted to watch Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy with her because she would correctly answer before you even had a chance to guess. Ruth also helped husband Lindy with the land and cattle but more so when he was away on pipeline construction jobs. Summertime equaled garden harvesting and canning season along with cracked fingers from shelling so many peas. In her kitchen, love was shown by the numerous home cooked meals that were prepared along with hot water cornbread or homemade yeast rolls and of course either a pie, cake or cookies for dessert. Before every meal, she would have her children wash their hands and thank the Lord for the meal they were receiving. Above all Ruth was a wonderful mother, wife, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
