Ruth Ann Swartz

Ruth Ann Swartz, of Mc Bain formerly of Winterfield Township passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City with family by her side. She was 85.

Ruth Ann was born on October 25, 1938, in Owosso, Michigan to Gaylord and Barbara (Keyes) Washburn. She entered into marriage with Edwin Frank Swartz on June 22, 1957 in Owosso. Ruth worked many years at Four Winns before her eventual retirement. Ruth and Edwin then made their way to Glacier National Park where they spent their summers and worked for a handful of years before returning home to Marion for the winters. Ruth enjoyed traveling, square dancing, knitting hats, and her grandchildren. She was a member of the Marion Ever Ready Club. Ruth Ann will be remembered for her love of baking, playing euchre, crafting, and running the roads.

Ruth Ann is survived by her two loving sons, Mark (Susan) Swartz of Lake City and Douglas Swartz of Elk Rapids, six grandchildren, two great-grandsons, and two great granddaughters, as well as many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and her husband, Edwin F. Swartz in 2010.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 2:00 pm, at the Fosnaught-Holdship Funeral Home in Marion, with visitation one hour prior. Her urn will be laid to rest with her husband at the Fernwood Cemetery in Temple. Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion Ever Ready Club.
