Graveside services will be in Odessa at Sunset Memorial Cemetery on Wednesday, August 22 at 11:00 AM.
Born in Barber County, Kansas to Walter Benton and Flossie Maud (Reed) Porter, she was the youngest of five children. Ruth graduated from Medicine Lodge High School in 1944. After marrying Frank Jones in 1946, they found their way to Odessa in 1950 where she lived until 2002. At the time she moved to Lubbock to be near her family.
Ruth was a loving mother, devoted wife, and faithful friend. After Frank's death in 1983, she found that she loved her Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church in Odessa. She was particularly proud that she was a charter member of the Friendship Class.
Her artistic passion was creating glass art, wood art, and jewelry main. She also loved to cook and was happy to honor her friends with birthday parties when they reached their 85th birthdays.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Sue St.Clair, her grandsons James St.Clair, IV, and wife Shanna, Chris St.Clair and wife Diana, Stephen St.Clair and wife Katelin, all who reside in Lubbock. She enjoyed 8 great grandchildren: Madeleine, Emily, Abigail, Benton, Graham, Katy Jane, Samuel, and Bennett.
The family suggests memorials in lieu of flowers to the First United Methodist Church in Odessa.
