Ruth Mengedoht, a Ceramic Artist of Tunbridge, Vermont passed at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Jack Byrne Center on Nov 12, 2020 at the age of 78.
Ruth was born in Cork, Ireland on May 16, 1942 to Catherine and Crofts Williams. She moved to Dublin, Ireland as a child with her parents and attended Hall School of Dublin County.
Ruth met her husband Larry Mengedoht in Bahrain. They moved on and lived in Jakarta, Indonesia; London, England; and Almaty, Kazakhstan. While living in Jakarta, Ruth became proficient in Chinese brush painting. Then in London, Ruth went to Art College and became very interested in ceramics which became her passion in life. Her travels with her husband gave her the opportunity to visit many countries in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and Africa; the art styles of those countries ultimately influencing her own art. Ruth and Larry retired to Tunbridge, Vermont in 1999 where Ruth set up her art studio and enjoyed the rest of her life producing Ceramic Art and painting.
She graced her world and those around her with her talents and a keen eye for beauty.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Richard Williams, brother-in-law Gordon Wing and son-in-law Christopher Naumann.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Larry Mengedoht, of Tunbridge, Vermont. She is also survived by her sibling Ann Wing of England, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Marilyn and John Syme of Vermont, and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Julie and Orville Mengedoht of Nebraska.
Her children and their spouses include Melanie and Kim Douglas of Singapore, Jacqueline and Alastair Howe of Ireland, Patrick Mitchell of Spain, Paul and Di Taylor of California, Kimberly Mengedoht of Minnesota and Mary and Dan Auth of New Hampshire. She is blessed with 11 grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be planned next year if the COVID-19 pandemic is controlled; the event will be announced by her family.
