Reflections of her Life
On Sunday, May 15th, 2022, God sent an angel to provide Ruth G. James her wings. Her master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come.” --Matthew 25:21
Ruth was born on September 14, 1942 in Fort Pierce, FL to the late Eddie and Rosa Emma Gilliam. She graduated from Lincoln Park and earned her AA Degree from Indian River College, Fort Pierce, FL. She united in marriage to a loving husband, Robert James, Sr. who preceded her in death.
Ruth enjoyed a life of service, always visiting and showing love to others. This was evidenced through her employment in Food Services at Indian River Memorial Hospital. She also worked at Winn Dixie Grocery, where people lovingly conversed with her throughout the checkout line.
Ruth will always be known for her ministry of Card Giving. She consistently provided a thoughtful card that had the right words, specifically chosen for the person she gave it to.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Eddie and Rosa Emma Gilliam; Husband Robert Lee James Sr.; Sisters: Winifred G. Keebe, Wanda Gilliam and Lenora G. Thompson; Brother Henry Gilliam.
Those left to cherish her memories include her children: Alfred (Joyce) Gilliam and Robert (Kenyatta) James, Jr. of Austin, TX; Granddaughters: Anesha and Azaria; Grandsons: Antonio and Zachary; Sister Blondell G. Wilcher of Fort Pierce; Brothers Ronald of Reading, PA, Jimmy and Kenneth of Fort Pierce and Benjamin (Renee) Gilliam of Ft. Lauderdale; Sisters-In-Law: Gloria Gaskin, Margaret McCoy and Ann James of Fort Pierce; Brothers-In-Law: Jacob Thompson of Dallas, TX, Willie (Marian) James of Raleigh, NC. and Tommie Lee James of Fort Pierce, FL. And a host of relatives and many devoted and loving friends.
